So, What is Rotary?

Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. This is exemplified in our mottoes, “Service Above Self” and “He Profits Most Who Serves Best.” Rotary is the world’s first service club. The first Rotary club was founded in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on February 23, 1905. Today there are more than 29,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 160 countries.

About Guilford Rotary

Guilford Rotary has made a difference since June 28, 1984. Meetings include a weekly luncheon at 12:30 PM each Tuesday at Starmount Forest Country Club, 1 Sam Snead Drive, Greensboro, NC. [Highlight Starmount Forest Country Club, to link to directions, which are included separately] Guilford Rotary supports many local and international organizations, but emphasizes assistance to students attending Guilford County Schools. Students attend Rotary meetings and are recognized for improvement in attitude, attendance, behavior and academics; spend a half-day on the job with Guilford Rotary members during the “Shadows” program; and mentor selected students throughout the year to “Motivate and Build Self Esteem.” Our local scholarship fund currently provides 16 scholarships to deserving students who have not been helped by other organizations. Additionally, the Rotary Foundation provides Ambassadorial Scholarships for students to study abroad, and for foreign students to study here. “Every Rotarian an Example to Youth.”
